A plain timer switches the light on and off in one step. The HG028 ramps up and down instead, which is easier on the fish and gives algae less of a head start. The app lets you set warm sunset pinks for a Betta display or crisp whites for an Iwagumi setup, without adding a controller box beside the tank.
Installation Tip:
Mount the bar 2-3cm above the water and run the 24/7 cycle at 80% brightness for the first week to help plants acclimatise and prevent algae blooms.
